Biography

Stacie graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts BA(HONS) in Dance in April 2019.She also holds a Diploma in Dance after completing her studies in May 2014 as a recipient of the LASALLE Scholarship for academic year 2013/14. She has completed her RAD Advanced 1 with Distinction at Forms Ballet and Dance Centre. Prior toher study at the arts institution, Stacie was trained under Catholic Junior College’s Dance Club. Her love for contemporary dance grew in Pei Hwa Secondary School’s Dance Society and was appointed the president of the dance club. She was also a scholar from Jitterbugs Swingapore Developing Artist Programme 2010/2011.

 

Trained in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz, but has picked up hip-hop, basic tap and salsa. During her Diploma years at LASALLE, She has performed in pieces choreographed by Melissa Quek, Albert Tiong, Foo Yun Ying, Chiew Pei Shan, YarraIltero, Dapheny Chen, Soren Niewelt, and John Mead. She has performed on platforms such as Esplanade’s Annual Dans Festival, T.H.E CONTACT Dance Festival, and worked with International Company, Vision of the Dance, under the tutelage of Mathias Martiz from Barcelona.

 

During her study at LASALLE, she actively performed in student choreographies and participated in community works such as MindBath organized by LASALLE Arts Management Students, as well as Displacement, a community collaborative work with NAFA Dance students.Upon graduation from LASALLE Diploma in Dance, she joined Professional dance company Re:dance Theatre as an Apprentice Dancer in June 2014 Her first production was DIFFER 2, where she worked with duo Aaron and Ix from previously known Ah Hock and Peng Yu, As well as Pe Wan Chow frompassoverdance, a Hong Kong dance company. She has performed for the Exxonmobil Campus Concert, in A Box Full of.This, Seeing through the Corridor by Dapheny Chen and in No Corners in CO:LAB 2015 by Rachel Lum. She has also travelled to Taiwan with the Company to tour their works. In Differ 3, She danced in Chien Hua Bao (Taiwan) Comme Une Femme and Speed by Albert Tiong.She gives technique class and choreographs for Primary and Secondary DanceCCA, and has sent the students for several competitions, school performances.She has also choreographed for the 2017 Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation for 2 secondary schools.

 

Stacie was also a Teaching Assistant at the Dance Talent Development Program organized by NAC/MOE/LASALLE College of the Arts in 2014,2016 and 2017. In 2016 she performed in Paragraph’s Phrase 2, Dance Nucleus Hatch 2, NUS Dance Ensemble Evocation, AEP By John Mead Dance Company, Exxonmobil Campus Concert 2016 and a Site Specific work in Singapore Civic District. Under WayneOng and Leia Ang performed for NOISE Singapore in a piece commissioned by Global Cultural Alliance titled ShortCut Dreams.

 

In 2017, She performed in Dance Nucleus Hatch 3, travelled to Panama City in Central America to perform in Prisma Dance Festival 2017. She has also started dancing for children’s dance theatre, The Kueh Tutus, by Melissa Quek in FoldCrinkle Roll, and Here. There. Where? ,performing in venues such as Esplanade Octoburst Children’s’ Festival and The Art Ground at Goodman Arts Centre. In 2018, She returned to LASALLE to continue her degree in dance and has performed for Susan Yeung(SG) and Annie and Franck (France). At the same time,she has performed in Dance in Situ Season 3 and Dance Nucleus’ Scope #2 as an independent artist.

 

In 2019, She graduated with a BA(Hons) Dance at LASALLE College of the Arts having worked with choreographers Theo Clinkard(UK), Liz Roche(IE), Jacky Yu(HK), Kuik Swee Boon(SG) as well as completing her dissertation titled In His Presence: an embodied dance practice supervised by Ang Gey Pin.In 2020 and 2021, She currently choreographs school internal and external performances/ competitions at Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary).She teaches kids ballet in Pre-school Centres under an international company from Hong Kong, SDM Ballet and Jazz Academie. She conducts Contemporary dance classes at Studios and Dance enrichment classes in Local MOE Primary and Secondary schools.
