Biography
Jhoy Anne Maverick Chavez aka JAM is from Calamba City of Laguna, Philippines. She started dancing at a young age, under Ms. Joan Alonte of Rhythm Works Dance School. When she entered high school, she was accepted as a Scholar at the prestigious school of the Philippine High School for the Arts and became a member of Maquiling Ballet Company under the tutelage of Mr. Nonoy Froilan and Mr. Robert Medina. She also joined summer workshops with the Cultural Center of the Philippines Dance School and Ballet Manila.
She is now an alumna of the Philippine High School for the Arts. These opportunities gave her the privileges of learning different styles and techniques. She was a former dance major at the University of the Philippines and part of the UP Dance Company under the guidance of Herbert Alvarez, Ma.Elena alaniog-Alvarez, Steve Villaruz, and Angela Lawenko-Baguilat. She graduated cum laude and with flying colors, holding Bachelor’s Degree; Major in Dance (Classical Ballet and Contemporary), in University of the Philippines Diliman, also graduated with Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts Major in Dance in the same university.
JAM participated in known Competitions like Cultural Center of the Philippines Dance Competition and won the 1st Prize in Female Senior Category on the year of 2018.
She has almost 6 years of experience in teaching Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance in the Philippines. In the recent years, she has taught the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi. JAM takes great pride and enjoyment in assisting her students flourish and discover the breadth of their talents. Teaching has awakened an unexpected branch of her passion for performance, and she feels privileged to have the opportunity to share her love of dance with aspiring young dancers.
