Biography
Amanda Tan Jia Chian has more than 10 years of professional training as a dancer and facilitator. She has professional training in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Jazz, Street Dance, Chinese Traditional Dance, Latin Dance and Belly Dance. She started her RAD Ballet with My Dance Station Ballet School in Malaysia and has completed her Grades 3-5 and Intermediate Foundation. In 2013 she was recognised as the “Xiaohe Elegant Demeanour” at the 7th Dance National Dance Competition in Beijing; the next two years she was awarded a Gold Award at the 9th China – ASEAN Youth Dance Interaction & Competition in Indonesia and Hua Zong National Musical Art Championships Red Sonata Fiesta National Dance Competition in Malaysia University Technology Petronas (UTP).

Amanda graduated with a Diploma in Dance from LASALLE College of The Arts in 2023. She was trained under excellent teachers such as Ms Melissa Quek, Ms Yarra Ileto, Mr Toru Okada, Mr Zhuo Zi Hao and etc. Along her journey in LASALLE, she teaches ballet classes in Singapore and choreographed Contemporary dance pieces for local and International festival such as SWEAT Hong Kong International Dance Festival, HELLO BYE BYE NOW (Nam June Paik Gallery 2021), Phenomenon 2022 and etc.

Her goal as a teacher, she looks forward to being an inspiring teacher who is able to convey the beauty and knowledge of dance to more general people. She also aspire to create meaningful and unconventional works for herself, dancers and audiences to continually push herself to explore new realms of her creativity while remaining true to herself and who she is as an artist.
