2024/25 Audition
The Apprentice Company (Contemporary)
The Apprentice Company (TAC), a pre-professional division of TEAMdpa, the programme delivers a specialised training for Soloists in Classical Ballet or Contemporary for outstanding Apprentice Team students. It is a prerequisite to be part of the TEAMdpa Apprentice Programme (Troupe Competition) before selected to be a TAC Contemporary Dancer.
*The prerequisite to be part of troupes is not required for PSLE, O’ Levels and A Levels Students.
All TAC Contemporary dancers are highly encouraged to join an optional Contemporary class which train their skills in Contemporary Techniques besides Classical Ballet on a weekly basis. (For 9yo & above, in the national year, 2025, that they will be competing)
Age groups: TAC Level 1 (9-10yo), TAC Level 2 (11-12yo), TAC Level 3 & 4 (13yo & above)

A consistent training regime in the contemporary dance technique will grow the dancer’s understanding and confidence in performing the technique.

Learn the various contemporary techniques such as Cunningham, Graham, Limón and Release Technique.

To prepare them in multiple Pre Professional platforms for Contemporary Solo such as Asian Grand Prix, Masterpiece International, International Ballet Grand Prix and Youth America Grand Prix.

To enhance their opportunities in Direct School Admission Auditions when Ballet and Contemporary are most demanded style of dance

The Apprentice Company (Contemporary) Audition
Our Audition for 2024/2025 intake will be held on 1st July 2024 at our Dancepointe Academy @ Ang Mo Kio. A stage sized dance studio specially built for Dance Competitions. The training will start from August 2024.

**The videos will be sent out via email by 26th June 2024 for the candidates to learn and present during the audition on 1st July. All auditionees will be guided by a teacher who will be going through the dance routine during the audition.
We seek your understanding that only top 70% base on scores will be selected during the Audition due to high demand and limited spaces. Another 10% will be selected for our 2nd Company for training, with 1 Competition as Solo or Duo, in The Bridging Programme (TBP).

2nd Company for Contemporary Soloist Training

Contemporary Techniques, influenced by modern and postmodern dances, is taught from a mind-body perspective including floor work, somatic and release applications.

Improvisation (spontaneous creation of movement) as a chance for dancers to explore their creativity through movement and ways of expressing that uniquely represents their individuality.

1 Competition of a Contemporary dance piece in the format of Solo or Duo, subject to assessmet.
