At the age of 5, Liang Pei started classical ballet under the tutelage of Sylvia Mccully and has since been taught by several renowned ballet teachers such as Jenny Chien, Jamaludin bin Jalil, Elena Kanevskaia, Alice Lau and Zhou Lin. Liang Pei have a strong foundation in classical ballet and is also well versed in contemporary dance, having under the tutelage of successful teachers such as Albert Tiong, Caren Carino, Dan Kwoh, Foo Yun Ying and Michael Teichmann.
Liang Pei’s passion for dance resulted in her stopping her University education to pursue dance professionally, and she is now a dance graduate of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. In addition to having extensive performance experience, she also has 9 years of ballet and contemporary dance teaching experience.
Having founded dACADEMY in 2013 with Artistic Director, Dan Kwoh, Liang Pei is also Head of TEAMdpa (Competition Teams of Dancepointe Academy). She has spearheaded numerous Dance Immersions to world renowned dance companies and institutes such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, London Contemporary School of Dance and New Zealand School of Dance.
Liang Pei is well versed in not only performance choreography, but also competition. Over the years, she has trained many students in Contemporary, Classical and Lyrical, and has sent them for regional and international dance competitions such as Bolzano International Dance Competition, Europe Dance Grand Prix, CSTD Asia Pacific Dance Competition and CSTD Singapore Regional Dance Competition, successfully clinching numerous awards in the top 3 placings.
Liang Pei is also the modern dance instructor for Dunman High (Senior), Serangoon Junior College, Saint Anthony’s Canossian Secondary, Chung Cheng High School (Main) and Methodist Girls’ School (Primary). In addition to the aforementioned, Liang Pei has rehearsed and choreographed for the above schools, which have been awarded Distinction for Singapore Youth Festival.
While learning dance technique is important, Liang Pei also strongly believes in molding individuals with character and values.
