Biography

Ms Farliana started Contemporary Dance at the age of 14 under the tutelage of Dr Danny Tan as part of her Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) in her Secondary School. Farliana and her team were awarded Gold with Honours Award for Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2009 and Gold for SYF 2011.

Her formal Dance education began in NAFA. She was taught by remarkable teachers, such as Ms Zhou Lin, Mr Ricky Sim and Dr Caren Carino. She had the privilege to perform at NAFA’s major productions – NAFA’s 75th Anniversary 2013 and Crossings 2015 etc.

She was a dedicated member of Odyssey Dance Theatre Company and actively performed Contemporary Dance in various works led by Artistic Director – 9th Element (2015), Muses (2014) and The Art of Faking (2013) etc. Ms Farliana was handpicked to be Cultural Ambassador and performed in the Asian Male Voices (2013) in Seoul (South-Korea) and Wow Merlion (2015) in Sienna (Italy).

She was bestowed the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award 2013. She received the Merit Award of S$10,000 for local study. She is a member of the NAFA alumni group and was last seen performing in Gui (2019).

Ms Farliana currently teaches Ballet and Contemporary Dance with Dancepointe Academy. Prior to her journey with us, she has 5 years of vast experience in leading industry level dance classes. She holds a CBTS from the RAD. She is well-versed in the RAD syllabus having taught through Pre-primary in Dance to Grade 8 level whilst coaching students for their RAD exams. Her dance exposures have helped her hone her performances and technical skills as a dancer, which is an asset when it comes to training dancers as she knows what is expected of a performer.

As a passionate dancer herself, she believes, instilling a love of dance in her students would principally be beneficial for the long term.
